Breastfeeding on TV : Momzelle at the Dragons’ Den CBC Show

This is SO exciting. This morning I pitched Momzelle to a national canadian TV program, the Dragons’ Den. We do not know if the segment will be aired or not this Fall, but we hope it will ! My friend Erin was there with me, breastfeeding her 5 week old baby with the Momzelle turtleneck in front of what could possibly be one million viewers. I think this can do a lot of good for breastfeeding in Canada, as it really helps to normalize breastfeeding in public. How more public can it be than in front of one million viewers ?

This reality TV show is about new business owners trying to get investment from rich and successful entrepreneurs. To know the outcome of my pitch, you will have to watch the show !

Here’s the proof Vincent and I were there (Vincent did not speak to the “Dragons”, he was there to cheer me up):

Momzelle in L’Express de Toronto

I am so proud ! Once again, Momzelle is in the news. This time, it is the Toronto French newspaper L’Express who got interested in the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (la FCJE en français: La fondation canadienne pour les jeunes entrepreneurs). Vincent and I were chosen to exemplify CYBF’s work. How great is that ? Read the article by Vincent Muller here.

Freshly Baked: Momzelle New Nursing V-Tank Tops !

We just received new Momzelle nursing tank tops (45$), with our very popular v-neck this time. Two new colours: a very cute berry and a chocolate brown (unfortunately not organic – I’ll be happy to share the reasons why if you ask me). I am very happy with the way they look and fit. There are some pictures up on www.momzelle.com. It smells like spring !

It will take a few more days before we re-stock our Momzelle original organic nursing tanks in black. I am not too happy about having to make you wait a little longer, but we do want to make sure that they are perfect before we bring them before you.

Breastmilk is the New Fuel

In the past week, 4 national publications approached Momzelle. So many magazines in such a short time frame makes me dreamy. Unfortunately, we were not approached to have our nursing tops featured as “new best product”, but as potential advertisers by bigger, like Pregnancy and Newborn, and smaller, like Brain, Child magazines- to name only those two. Brain, Child is a magazine that I enjoy reading very much. It is intelligent, wise, witty, and I consider it my Monde diplomatique of parenthood.  I wish I could say yes to everyone, and fill in all the advertising space that car manufacturers were taking a few months ago (although I do not think any did advertise in Brain, Child). Can you imagine breastmilk replacing fuel ? I can…

Momzelle bientôt sur la côte ouest américaine (Momzelle soon in the West Coast)

Momzelle now has a picture gallery of breastfeeding moms

That’s it ! Our new website is on. It is not perfect, that’s for sure (one of the main problems being that the shopping cart empties when you click outside of the shopping window), but we are very proud to have a new section with photos of moms wearing Momzelle nursing tops.  They are beautiful ! Have a look, click on this link: http://www.momzelle.com/momzphotos.html

Thank you so much for all the moms who sent their photos !

More pictures will be added as we receive them by email. Do you have a picture that you’d like to send us ? Please do so ! Send it to  ¨info at momzelle dot com¨

Have a great day everyone (snif, I know almost no one will read this, as I am only testing my ability to write a blog regularly. I am starting to enjoy this, and I wish we will make a deal out of it soon !).

The cost of mat leave
January 21, 2009, 4:13 pm
Filed under: What's new at Momzelle

The city of Toronto Children Services has a childcare subsidy probram, which is great, and which I have been using for the past year. I just learned today that it is not possible to work part-time with a baby in a sling, and still bring the older child to daycare. They both need to go full time to daycare or not at all, which makes the transition from mat leave to work a little edgy if you can’t afford two full time spaces at daycare (over 3 000$/month for both children). Hum.. having a second kid requires a second thought.

How to obtain an article in the National Post

Become a Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) entrepreneur ! The National Post features small business owners every week, and once a month it is an entrepreneur that benefits from the CYBF program that is under the spotlight. This January, it is Momzelle (www.momzelle.com) owners and siblings Vincent and Christine Poirier (me!) who are featured. Sleep deprived mompreneurs
January 20, 2009, 1:16 pm
Filed under: What's new at Momzelle

It is not easy everyday to be a mompreneur ( a mom and an entrepreneur). This morning I would have slept a little more after a hard night of little sleep with my toddler waking me every hour. Still, I have it easy compared to other moms who still take care of their kids AND of their business during their working hours. I do not know how they can manage, but I look at them admiringly. Coffee, anyone ?
